Glad I'm pressure testing my engine! At like 1 minute, it drops from 10 psi to like 9, and then after a couple minutes it'll make its way down to about 5-6. Sprayed some soapy water and pumped up the pressure to around 10 psi, and sure enough there's a couple places it leaks; all on the intake manifold assembly The gasket surfaces are absolutely perfect, the gaskets are new OEM, and I torqued them as well. The torque specs are around 6 ft pounds, so 70 inch pounds. I did that, and tightened em just a little more to be safe. It's weird, because it leaks in multiple places, for sure the bottom intake piece that holds the reeds. Use a little yamabond? Or should i just use permatex high tack spray?

10 psi isn't high. Some people go up to 15.
I have an air leak that shows even at 6 psi, so that's my worry.

I usually go to 8-9psi and pass myself if doesn't drop after 30mins or so. I also make sure to put a tooth pick between the reeds to allow the air through easy. I would threebond 1211 it and call it done.

Yes, expansion plugs in the exhaust mani and in the intake mani. Well, originally in the intake mani but we switched to a rubber innertube material between the carb and mani because we thought that might be what was leaking since the j take mani has that raised ridge in the port.
But anyways, yamabonded the gaskets. I was gonna pressure test it myself but my dad ended up stopping by our warehouse before me and gave it a shot and it held 10 psi for 15 minutes without dropping at all. So that's all good!
I am almost all done grinding the plexus out of my hood so I can reinforce it. I also need to finish up turf. The sides turned out super good, and I'll show pics of where my fingers punctured through. I ended up trimming alot in the holds and just filled in the gap with another piece and you can't even tell. It tore in almost the perfect place to not show lol.
With wrestling shoes and orthopedics installed (like 30$ hard supports for my flat feet, I forget the brand but they help), and 26mm pad top and bottom with turf, a good kick and they fit perfectly. Not too tight, just perfect. Believe it or not, I'm gonna add some 26mm padding behind my heels for sure, and possibly around my foot to give me some added security. I'll still be able to pop out if I need to, but I love feeling locked in and confident in my holds. At least for me, it makes a huge different in the way I ride. These holds are what I'm most excited for in this build!
I should be riding next weekend :)

I have well over 5 hours gutting my stock hood.. It's been an absolute pain in the ass! It's just about done and ready to prep for reinforcement. Gonna grab some Jimmy Johns then get to glassing!! Tomorrow I'm gonna assemble the rest of the motor as well, and Tuesday(my day off) I'm gonna finish turf and do the majority of assembly and do the finishing touches throughout the week after work. And then, ride this upcoming weekend!! That is my goal and I'm sticking to it! Soooo pumped to get out there!

Hood is reinforced and vents are glassed off. That took a while, but it turned out pretty good :). The hood was probably one of the worst things of this build. It sucked! Gotta find a better method for grinding the liner and excess plexus.

Tatro, exactly why I went with ski craft. Benol, r50,and super techniplate don't have good corrosion / rust protection. Skicraft does. Not all klotz is equal

Yeah I've heard of rust with other klotz and amsoil dominator. Those don't offer any additives for marine use. But Skicraft is designed for marine use and is a tc-w3 replacement so it shouldn't rust.
Why, have you heard of people having issues with Skicraft? Pretty sure I've only heard of the other klotz and race oils rusting.

Ahhh. Yeah, when I talked to the klotz rep I said I was torn between super tech or Skicraft, and he recommended I use Skicraft instead, especially since I keep it by the water. Pretty sure super tech is comparable to dominator in terms of what it's designed for.. If you look at the back of a dominator label, it says(I've got a quart from last season)
"recommended for use as injection oil or as a 50:1 premix in high performance stock and modified two cycle motors, including air and liquid cooled snowmobiles, personal watercrafts, , atvs, go carts, and outboard motors*"
Then there's a disclaimer for the asterisks "*not suitable for long term use in outboard motors as a tc-w3 type oil, although excellent as a race oil for short term use where motors are periodically inspected"
Our skis are in/near the water and not periodically torn apart throughout the season.. So oils like dominator and other race performance oils without additives aren't the best way to go in terms of rust/corrosion protection.
