Yes, goes right on. As with the 08-later RN, the stock steering sucks.
What year ski are you putting it on? We are going to have a steer system very soon for the stock 21 pole, and will work with 08-later cable. It will greatly increase steer ratio / response.
If you have an 07-older, you can use a RRP, or other steer system. (We have these as well)
For me its hard to describe but stock it feels like there is a significant amount of slack in the steering, which makes it difficult to ride in a straight line (imo) and from what I've ridden it feels like there isn't a direct translation in the amount you turn the handlebars and the amount you steer. Not trying to hi jack a thread but what is bad about stock steering ? Turns slow ? Doesn't turn enough ? Always curious when I hear this.

I have never understood that. I was at the original Southern Fried Freeride. Scott Watkins was there, He was telling us about the new Superjet (08 model) coming out, that it was designed to handle better, turn better, etc etc. Then it came with that terrible steering setup. Never understood that. I know they were using the FX1 uppers on the pole, but damn, they could have found a way to make the steering better. It is the "ratio" that is slow. The amount of movement @ the handle bars vs. the steer nozzle. I think Yamaha makes it like this thinking it is easier for a new rider. IMO it actually makes the ski harder to ride.

What spring was used? Assuming using standard pole mount base.
He was asking about the 21-23 SJ4S Pole fitting on a RN SJ..........The issue is the amount of steering cable throw in post 08 models. You quite literally cannot make the ski break free without an absurd amount of body English. IMO a pre 08 cable on one of those skis is the single best modification. However without hogging out the pole and adding a modified bracket it doesn’t work with the stock fx1 pole that they put on them. Or buy an aftermarket pole and an ovp steering system and live happily ever after.
Still running this setup? I'm kinda looking at getting a 21+ pole for my 01Great news!
We put my new unused 22’ pole on an 09’ Round Nose
Here is the trick:
Kawasaki 750/800 spring and bend the long side straight and keep the rubber roller on it. Leave the short side rubber on. Insert long end into left tube. When you get it bolted together make sure you run a hose clamps so the spring can’t walk (it probably won’t because of the roller in the tube). Stock spring balances the pole like a heavy duty spring!!! Hopefully it lasts!
