RRP 3/8” Water Strainer???

Recently got the rrp carbon exhaust system for my freestyle build. The instructions say to use rrp water strainer if riding surf or water with lots sediment and poop in it. Should a guy run one just to be on the safe side? And anyone know where one could be picked up?

I run the 1/2" version like this. I installed it with my Factory Wet Pipe on my SXR. I ride dirty, don't want my water injection holes clogging.

Waking a dead thread here. Where are you guys mounting these things? I'm trying to decided a decent location in my Blaster where it won't be a pain in the d*ck to clean/ inspect. easiest spot would be by the firewall down by the midshaft right where the water line enter the engine bay, but would be hard to inspect. Maybe up by the e-box?

Mounted mine as JC mentioned, even zip tied it to some other cooling hoses up high, it did work and it stayed put..

The issue I had was the damn lid is so hard to unscrew, it’s like trying to take automotive engine oil filter off by hand that’s been over tightened.. the unit not being solid mounted didn’t help.. neither does cold wet hands & cloves lol....

So after a year or so I remounted it using one of those after market single bilge pump brackets.....I’ll post a pic in a bit

if you don’t need to take the cover off at the beach then you may not need to go to this extent

Thanks for posting those pics man, clean! Just sold a bilge bracket a week ago... Do you have your pump water line going strait into that thing (pump->screen->mani/engine) or do you have it somewhere farther down the line?

Welcome... iam running a RRP carbon pipe, so the strainer is for the pipes water injection circuit, only.. it’s inline before the RRP water injection filter... so its T’d off one of the incoming water lines feeding the manifold... then strainer, then filter, then injector nozzle, if that makes sense

Bought one never did install never had no issues mind you I ride in pretty clean fresh water in the short season we have in Canada. But had to do crank seals last season and found a dirty old weed hanging out in between my block and manifold could have been bad probably worth hooking up for what it’s worth. Pipes and motors ain’t cheap

Ya no salt for me either. That said the river I ride has tones of weeds and the cottage is clean and clear but with a beach. Less worried about the motor/ i'll watch the pee hole for that. More worried about a pebble blocking the orifice of the water jacket of my red pipe and melting exhaust hoses etc. I'm sure the consensus is "don't worry about it", just trying to make this this as reliable as possible while I've got it apart. God help me if my wife is around and it breaks after spending all this money LOL.
