rrp carbon handlebars

a word of caution...from my cycling experiences specifically with carbon handle bars, seat posts, frames, etc....if you overtighten these, the underlying carbon fractures at the worst of times and you end up with a total disaster...clean break at the point where the clamp pinches the carbon tube,strat,etc...love my carbon SF, due to strength and weight, but will never trust it on the bars.

I have a set of Black Spire on my carbon ROK. ODI grips lock fine and they are about 5 years old. They are MTB bars though, using WDK Big Dog steering. Not sure if that helps since it seems that the steering system may not be readily available. Have a great day

@Aquaholic nice photos but wondering on longevity.
i'm sure they are plenty strong but once exposed to the sun etc... no breaking down of substrate of epoxy?
i like the idea and all for technology but any drawbacks?

"Longevity"? The jury is still out on that one. These bars haven't been out that long. We've been running them since World Finals of last year.

There have been reports of a few failures, however. I suspect that operator error may have been a factor. Whether it's on a bicycle or a ski...extra care must be taken when you tighten any bolts, on any contact points.
Carbon fiber gives no warning when it fails...it lets go catastrophically. If you value your face and teeth, ALWAYS use a torque wrench when affixing bar clamps and lever perches. We run ODI style grips... same thing applies here.

If you're riding in the surf...stay with an alloy bar.

Lastly, if you are north of 200 pounds and you ride "heavy"...consider replacing it after each season.

YMMV.

thanks for valuable input.
i knew abut the bike stuff ,but it is not really comparable as it's usually calculated for definite known loads with very little safety leeway for the sake of extreme weight savings.
i don't think rrp or others in our business are as aggressive when it comes to that.
