RRP Carbon VS PFP debate

I know this has been asked before so bare with me. Just looking for some real world feedback from people who have ran both set ups on a 1200cc motor . I personally run a PFP currently, I've done it dry and wet, and preferred the bottom end of the wet set up now while I am learning.

I am building a new ski for next season, and I have the opportunity currently to run either pipe with the new build. This will strictly be a flatwater ski, with the occasional boat chasing maybe?

Thanks guys

If I was in your shoes, I would convert the PFP to a electronic water injection setup. Get the benefits of the wet pipe down low and still have the mid/top of the PFP.

Here’s my input. Out of the rrp pipes in our group, only one is still running. The simple reason being, the jet got clogged and they cooked the pipe.

Now you can stay on top of it and run a filter, but why risk it? That’s just what I have seen. I don’t think you could ever get me to buy one.

I've liked them both. I've had a PFP on an 1105 with great results and also an RRP on a 964 with great results.

I'd go with whatever your engine builder recommends or what you see others run with your setup.

Funny I went the opposite route. I've been running a RRP on my ski for 6 years with not one issue. Meanwhile I've watch everyone I ride with crack multiple PFPs.
PFP is supposed to be better for my 964, but I'm happy with what I have and how reliable it is.

Im running the RRP on my Dasa 1200 and have had it on 3 other engines with no issues. I do run 2 filters to prevent the jet from clogging and i try not to start it in the shallow water so it doesnt pickup sand. I have run both pipes wet and had great power with both. The RRP water box seems to be louder in my opinion but it makes great power and the carbon pipe looks cool.
It would be great if the pfp didnt crack and the RRP pipe didnt melt but then what would you do with all that extra money?

Regarding the PFP cracking.
Im running a PFP gen 1 pipe on my 8. year (no spot wekds), its been in 4 diffrent hulls and never cracked. I guess i could be lucky or some people might not do the allignment and securing proper enough.

Thanks for all the responses guys.
My current PFP has no cracks in it, I swapped it over to wet and like the power increase but was having issues with too much he regardless of what jet I put in the spray bar. I was running an inline filter as well on the set up. I just noticed so many built 1200cc skis run the RRP pipe intead of the PFP and was curious why

Out of curiosity, how do you route your cooling water? Sometimes I wonder if that affects cracking.

I hope I have my lines right! I have a spray bar in it but was also going to run water through all the ports. What's the plug for on the rrp waterbox?

Is this a normal PFP chamber? if so you do NOT want to feed the chamber as well as the spray bar. You want everything blocked off on the chamber with the exception of the stinger to still feed water to the waterbox

If I block all off and only use spray bar there is no way to put water just in stinger

run a t or y-fitting before the spray bar...the key to running the wet pipe setup is to build heat in the chamber...if you feed the water jacket you are defeating the purpose of the conversion...shoot me a PM and I can help you so we dont clog up this thread
