Plastic, our torture test to failure was 15% stronger than the OEM nozzle in the identical test. (Yes, OEM nozzles were harmed during this testing!)

Any reason you guys aren't selling the nozzles and just the STL file?

I have a Markeforge and printing this nozzle with Onyx material is $50. It's nylon based, which I believe will not do so well in water.

Because they are the worse dealers ever. Gave us a taste of the awesome product and then took it away!

On a side note my nozzle is still holding up great after a lot of abuse and my kids continuing to use it as step..

Yes. keeps the nose down.

It's just not cost effective for us to print these as you have found out. We actually had the most success with PLA which surprises a lot of people because it's pretty inexpensive. Using a .6mm printing nozzle was the key to success, .35mm layer height at 4 outlines, 20% infill if I remember correctly.
