RTR ski weights

So after hunting and looking at hulls, and doing some weighing with my new digital ski weighing scale...lol, I am curious how many have actual ready to ride weights (less gas) for their ski, and what type of hood/hull this includes.

I just weighed my flatwater boat in question and its 332 no gas!:eek5:

My surf hull is 128.5 with pump shoe, tubbies, scupper tube, and 2 footstraps, most off the turf removed...............my guess is around 310 ready to ride but I'll update next week when its done.

ATS_Scott's Lenzi hull with XFT hood was like 290 lbs RTR. I think he had half a tank of gas in it. I weighed my Wamilton's hull and it pegged out our scale at 315 with no hood, no battery and no gas tank in it :-( I think I'm waterlogged and need to defoam. It would be nice to get below 300.

My SN SJ with some wet foam (only 3-4 rides after refoam and pin hole leaks) weighed 335 lbs unreinforced and no gas. My 750 which had a clear sight through the hull into the foam for a year weighs 305 lbs and some reinforcement. Both ski's are basically the same mod for mod.

stock 750 hull, -2 superjet pole and lowered bracket, cut rear bondline, D cut ride plate, wammer cyclone footholds, stock foam with great stuff spray foam around the footholds, no fire extinguisher, yusa YTX20L-BS, and NO GAS... 280 lbs could be lower with a smaller battery

My squarenose conversion is 267 with a little gas, some water in the bilge, and fire extinguisher/etc, right off the water.

how much diff in handing is 30 pnds gonna make on a aftermarket light weight hull? especially if the rider is not a light weight like some of the pros that are not over 160 soaking wet fully geared up

I dont notice any diff in my ski from when i go out with a full tank and come back in with it near empty, still handles and feels the same to me.thats more weight diff than we are talking about here.

We are talking flatwater boats, not surf boats..............I know you HATE flatwater, but thats what we have here!:nana:

Where are you getting your #'s from anyway? Petes is at 250 and Jetts at 267................Petes hull is advertised (and stamped with 74 lbs) about 10-15 lbs lighter than a WCF, WDK, or whatever. So if you do the math and add 10 lbs or so to Petes weight, you get 260 or so, which is where Jett is at, give or take a few, with a stock SN bottom.

Now, here you go Masterblaster.........332-260=72 lbs!

That would make a difference even in the surf, but on a flatwater boat, is night and day. I suspect when all said and done I can save 75-85 lbs with a flatwater specific boat (no bilge, small tank, limited wiring, lightweight waterbox/plumbing, etc......)

One more thing to consider.............losing 85 lbs off of a 332 boat is a reduction of 25%..............sounds substantial to me!

Working on the surf ski now.............and dont give a damn what IT weighs!:shooter3:

Gonna hit surf next weekend somewhere.............you in?:buttkick:

Not to start anything but this goes right back to what I said about the SXR, it feels heavy, its the design not the weight. Weight does matter but not as much for surf, you can be too light.

My SXR was at 395 RTR without gas 383 w/Trinity carbon hood, FP wet pipe, Reinforced lightly under pole area, no lightning done anywhere, Blowsion Rickter footholds, Hydro turfed, RRP pole and pole mount, CF chin pad, UMI steering, dual bilges, Skat Trim set up, no ext on either. Still waiting to weigh the SJ. Stock Yuasa battery was 14.2 lbs.

I dont have a lightweight hull, OEM Hull setup by wammer, I think it is farely light for a stocker.

But, I ride flat and I can tell a huge difference between a full tank of gas and a quarter tank.

I am at 292lbs Stock RN hull, hood, poll, and chin pad. No gas, Fire extinguisher, or extinguisher holder. Light Reinforcing on right rear side only. Just wanted to add this is with the battery installed. I'm running the ETX9

Hey guys,

I pm sjett and he will sticky this once we get it accurate. Include as much info on components and we will have a good database of weights.

Include hull type, amount of reinforcing, hood type, fire ext or not, battery type, assume dry weight, pipe type, turf, holds, or stock mats, pole type and length, and any other pertinent data.....................

I'll work on a form when I have time, kinda like the carb database thread

My carbon jet from Tem is 230lbs with no fuel ready to ride. It's very light and fun to ride. I have been ripin it in the surf. My white surf boat is 310lbs fully reinforced.

I love my light weight ski, but light weight skis are for flat water. My carbon ski is to light in the surf.

what do you mean to light in the surf, what does it do you dont like? unless you mean break I dont follow?
