Ruger AR-556

Been wanting one of these since they came out but just didn't want to fork out that much cash for one just yet. I went to one of our local gun shops yesterday and they had this one on sale for $524.95 brand new. Full retail is close to $800 I believe. For what it is, I was very impressed with the quality and fit and finish. I just test fired it and it shot very smooth. If you want a nice basic AR 15 then check one of these out.

For what it is it's very well made and shoots very smooth. The stock trigger is pretty good as well. I was very pleased with it. One other thing I noticed is that it is about 1 1/2"-2" shorter overall than my Core 15 Scout which is the same M4 profile.

14.7" with a pinned flash hider, perhaps? That would account for 1.5" easily. The Core 15 is listed at 16" so I'm not sure what else could make that much of a difference in length.

I had both stocks fully extended and the Ruger was definitely shorter. I'll check and see if the flash hider is pinned but I doubt it.

Oh, you're just talking OAL, not just barrel length. I could see that. Stocks and buffer tubes can be wildly different.

Both the AR-556 and Core 15 Scout are listed at 16.1" with no mention of pinned hiders, so it's gotta be in the stock and/or tube.
