My buddy is building his LPW 760 and Paul told him to run the carbs pumpside in. He says they perform better that way, anybody else heard of this? Run them this way? What is the benifit?
*if you put your ear to the ground you can hear the dyno joke bandwagon

I would suggest you read a Mikuni manual so you can tell the difference between the pump side and diaphragm side.....retard!

They're supposed to be a performance advantage running them with the pump side out because of the higher intake manifold signal in that direction.

That's why the Yamaha OEM 44s are mounted that way with the throttle cable at the rear.

Some people mount them backwards so they can access the diaphragm cover without removing the whole assembly.

thank you, now I kind of remember seeing something on this, but it didnt make sense to me why turning the carbs 180 degrees would increase the signal

I think there is an article on Group K about this........ has to do with left turn syndrome...

I run my Team Scream 44's this way. Also the boyesan manifold is setup to run the carbs this way also......

The REAL reason We(standups riders) normally run them pump side out is that there is a very real chance of blocking the vent to atmosphere hole with the rear exhaust hose if they're run in the pump side in orientation. Standups aren't capable of turning hard enough to experience much of the left turn issues that runabouts face. The cure for that is not turning them around, but turning them 90 degrees. There. Make sense?

Plus when we're turning, the ski is leaning so that effect is minimized anyway. Sitdowns turn fairly flat so there is a lot of side load.

Full Spectrum just drills another hole at the top the same diameter as the bottom hole.

Hot products offers a billet aluminum cover that only uses two allen bolts with few more holes.
