Running carbs pumpside in?

They're supposed to be a performance advantage running them with the pump side out because of the higher intake manifold signal in that direction.

That's why the Yamaha OEM 44s are mounted that way with the throttle cable at the rear.

Some people mount them backwards so they can access the diaphragm cover without removing the whole assembly.

That is the reason that was told many years ago. I have tried carbs turned both ways and I think that they definitely run better mounted pump side out.
