Super Jet Running lean

Heres the story: Got water in tank, started running s****y, ran fine if i primed it every few seconds, got home and rebuilt carb, emptied gas tank, cleaned fuel lines, changed fuel filter and check valve, checked reeds "looked fine". Took it back to the water and still ran like crap unless i primed it. But then i noticed gas puddling around one of the case bolts. Thought it just might be blow back from priming it. I wiped it off rode and rode it for a few minutes without priming it, came back and noticed another puddle. Its really strange. Its dry everywhere else except that one spot. Head gasket, intake, and carb are all dry. Any ideas on what could be going on? Im getting very frustrated with this thing. I did get it to run a little bit better by adjusting the high and low speed from 1.5 on each to 3.0 on each. Didnt go with bigger jets because i believe theres a problem elsewhere and would like to set it back to original settings. i even put in a new pop off spring in (same size/ gram). Any help greatly appreciated. The motor is out of a 95 wetjet kraze by the way. 61x/61x with a single mikuni 46. sjgasleak.jpg

Are you sure there is no leak in any of the lines? Any broader pics you could post? Having to adjust from 1.5 to 3 is a big jump.

Did you take the jets out and make sure there was nothing in them when you rebuilt your carb? May have something stuck in one not letting gas through......hows your crank seals???

check for a hair line crack at the bottom of the water jacket where it meets the transfer ports. it is the reason they made gridle heads

I have one of these tasty motors for one of my surf ski’s and love it, wish I had bought ten when they were available, anyway, it did have a blown base gasket early on and could never get it to hit hard on the bottom. Once I fixed that it has been rock steady. It’s a single carb so it’ll be real easy to fab up a leak down tester.
