300/440/550 sbn 44 carb on a 550 sx reed motor

I want to think you should be able to. Mr. Ski once said that the spacer was only for reducing heat transfer to the carb. Make sure they mate up well, are CLEAN and use a gasket with 1211. :brap:

the spacer is so the fuel pump on the SBN will clearance the head. I know i needed one on my 550 piston port but not sure about the reed valved 550's.

no, you can not bolt a sbn44 to a stock reed motor intake.
you need a 44mm intake.
there are several spacers available but i would just get an intake manifold. i use to have one back when i ran a 550. that thing would rip. it would smoke my 650, thats for sure.

yeah i love how well my piston port 550 runs now that i got the SBN on it, i think it is the best mod for these old skis. A buddy just picked up a 550sx and i thought he should do the same mod but didn't get to look into the manifold enough to tell if the SBN would bolt on. Thanks for the info guys.

does anyone know if you can bolt on the sbn44 carb to the stock intake of the reed valve 550sx motor without the spacer plate?

Oh, you meant that spacer. Sorry. You worded as carb to intake manifold, rather than intake manifold to cylinder. Different spacers.
