sbn 44mm on a stock x2

I'm trying to figure out the jetting and tuning for this carb and can't seem to find any specs on a stock x2 that more then one person agrees on . Any help would be great .

If it was me Id wait till you got a pipe and waterbox then install the SBN. Otherwise your going to be tuning twice. Not to mention there will be no real feel difference than the stock carb setup with that crappy pipe on there. Then you can install a head and no tuning changes needed. But if you must , If it was me Id start at 107.5 pilot and 140 main. If your running an aftermarket FA Id run a 2.0 N/S with a popoff around 20ish.

This is just gonna stay stock it's for my 12 year old son to go out and ride surf on and learn the basics . I've just never jetted a carb before and I am looking for a base line to start at and you just gave me one . Thank you I'll let you know what I need up with .

Let me ask you why you want to swap out the stock carb? If your going to leave the rest stock Id say leave the stock carb on it . Unless theres something wrong with the stock carb. Id then suggest getting the stock 38mm setup that came on later model 650's. Thats plug n play. Reason being there will really be no noticeable performance differance. The Kawi 650 has a low intake volume preasure so going with a bigger carb creates a lower than normal signal which is bad with the stock pipe. Makes installing just a SBN 44 tricky and kind of useless. I would say for surf riding install the carb with a cheap westcoast pipe. That will give the ski a little more zip which is a big help in the surf.

Also if you need any tuning tips PM me. If you havent read the mikuni bible I'd say read it at least twice , then tune.

There wasn't enough get up and go with it as far as throttle response went . My 650sx responded better and it was all stock with a 44mm carb . I will definitely check out that link and look for a pipe .

Okay so I opened the carb up after reading the mikuni bible and it had 1.5 needle with a 155 gram spring the gold Sprin with a 115 pilot and a 120 main . According to the mikuni sbn bible that puts the pop off around 55 lol. I changed it out for a 2.3 with a 120 p and a 140 m with a dull silver spring wich should put the pop off right at about 20 -21 according to spec and put it back together and BRAP BRAP !! Now to get it tuned in the water .

If you find a cheap After market pipe, west coast, Jetsport, Marineer, it will help a lot. Not a big fan of most Aftermarket water boxes, too loud and almost no change in power. You got the carb jetting figured out. Low speed screw is usually around a turn out, give or take. High speed is usually a llittle over one turn out. ran this set up on almost all my SX/X2's. Prop makes a huge difference once you get them running well.
