SBN44 issues

I put an SBN44 on a '90 model 550. The ski is otherwise bone stock. I put in a 100 pilot and 120 main jet. Popoff is at 20psi. The ski seems to run out just fine but is pretty hard to start. Seems like you have to give it partial choke and crack the throttle while cranking and it will finally start blubbering and run. Should I increase the pilot jet? Maybe increase the popoff because of the stock flame arrestor?

How's it idle once it's started? Have you checked the compression?

Actually got it working this weekend. Spark was getting very weak after the ski warmed up good. Swapped out the CDI/coil and it would start right back up every time.

Good find. How did you discover this anyway? Did you just happen to check spark when it was good an hot?

Yes, checked after it was hot and displayed the symptoms. Spark was more yellow/orange than blue/white.
