I don't think we will see issues with them in short periods of time (1-3 years). It is further down the road where you can have potential failure, as their bearings are not superb quality.
That being said, their quality as of today is far higher than in past years.
I am a SBT dealer and think they have a fine product for the price. You can change out a crank proactively every few seasons (depending on use) and still probably come out cheaper than running OEM quality cranks for longer intervals. Also, many of us spend the majority of our riding time in the lower RPM range, which greatly extends the life of all components!
