Scammers

If someone responds and gives a phone number or email address. Most likely they are a scammer. Especially if they just jointed the same day or within a few days. We have no way to easily stop them. Right now, we are turning off ability to join the X. This should help some until we get something working..... buyer/seller beware.

the thing is, that everyone that rides either a stand up or a blaster knows about the X . The exceptions are the ones that just got into it and needs info about our hobby but somehow, they end d up are selling things that we want and possibly need at a cheap price , then take advantage . Buyers beware!... and make sure you do all your homework.
I got screwed for $850 on FB and I sure won't make that mistake again !!

I have stayed clear of the scammers over my time buying ski parts. I joined a FB kx250 groups. Dammit did they not get me. I said screw it and bought mainly oem parts or new aftermarket like fmf exhaust straight from the company vs the members.

Can you add questions to join and also ask who can vouch for them? We have a parents of avon lake page on FB like that. You have to have someone already in the group that can vouch for you before you get approved.

It seems like anyone new joining the X would have to know someone that rides!

I nearly got scammed on an impeller for my WB1, was contacted by another seller who had one for sale cheaper than the one I replied to. The giveaway was when he asked me to use PayPal “friends and family” which waives fees but also buyer protection. I reverse image searched the pics he sent and found he’d just taken them from someone else’s post.

Maybe a special WARNING tag highlighting members while they are new OR haven’t posted much?

Does anyone know if AAlamo is a scammer? He responded to my carburetor ad and wanted my paypal so thinking I was smart, I posted my phone # for him to call/text me and then crickets. Then he deleted his message.
Any help would be appreciated.

He's a good dude but you have to be really careful with scammers creating a username that's almost the same as existing accounts. Look at their post history and then decide if it's someone you want to share your info with.
It was just very odd that he said he wanted to buy my carbs then he disappeared--even deleted his original message. That was after I posted my phone number, anyway, thanks for your time. I think I should just post my parts on eBay from now on.

I am thinking his account may have been cloaned. They did this to SmittySX on friday. They added a "." After his name. Used his avatar pic. Most likely i deleted the account and this why you see it deleted.

I misspoke-it turns out that messages went to my phone but not to my laptop where I usually respond from. So, Alamo did not delete anything. I should also state that I get spam calls everyday so I’m a bit hesitant to post my number here and beyond that, posting an email address seems riskier even though I don’t know what scammers do with them—I’m just a bit paranoid. Again, all is well and Alamo reached out after I posted my concerns and he was happy someone vouched for him. Thanks for all.

I just got got by a pretty creative one,

I replied that I would take the part in the thread, I pmed OP my number. The scammer looked through my old posts, found my phone number and texted me with a reference to the part I said i would take.

Pretty crafty, I am out $35 lol

Before I was able to respond via PM, I gave my email. I recently had a scammer reach out to me through email saying he was the seller. Be cautious unless you know who you're dealing with!
