Screwed up tubbie install???

So lack of clear pictures, me not know what a tubbie is really for and being gun ho to get on the lake to enjoy this sled are excuses but according to Tom21 I may have them set back too far, i'm three days into a seven day cure time with my 5200 sealant I've never even worked with that stuff befor so I don't know if I can pull these things off and relocate them without destroying them.. Also are they really too far back if so and I leave them has anyone ever tried them farther back like this... I heard is mellows the ski out?

5200 is silicone so you can cut it even when cured. Over the years I've used piano wire, scalpels and razor scrapers to remove fittings and then remove the sealant.

If you decide to remove your tubbies you should CUT them off (through the sealant). If you try and yank them off you risk destroying them.

Cool thanks for the reply from what it's looking like I got them in the right spot next step for me is glassing them in and smooth every thing I glassed... Which is looking like fun work under the bond line!

u are 100% sure they are not backwards ??

Well anyway the ones we installed in the past several different suppliers we often had to bend them, shave some stuff depending on how well the fitment was.

Well they're tom21 design for a fx1 I have sent him three pictures now the first one I sent him made it look like they were about a foot and a half back from the front and he said they were to far back.. I sent him new one the ones on here and he said they were fine, he didn't say anything about them being on wrong and like I said if I put the one from the other side in it wouldn't match the shape of the hull at all.

Placement depends a lot on riding style. On your first couple rides you might not like them. I crashed a lot *more* when I did mine they make the ski turn on a dime. Also you can get 24hr 5200.

I would think twice about glassing in any type of tubbie whether it be tom21 or blowsion. Yes there are people that are lucky and get by with it without issue, but think about if you wreck against a rock or another boat and nothing but your tubbie cracks... Where do you even begin taking off the permanently glassed in thing? That would be a ton of work and you would more than likely screw up your boat in a major way. Imo just use silicon and screws. 5200 is overkill even

At the time I bought them I didn't know he had bolt in ones... I'm pretty good at glass work but I can see your point. I think I'm stuck at this point since I've already set it up to glass by sanding the gel coat off
