Part #5: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/waverunner/1996/super-jet-sj700au/crankshaft-piston
#5: This part called the crankshaft collar or otherwise it is the rear seal carrier. On my crank, this was loose and was able to spin and also slide right off of my crank (with the coupler removed).
Checking with the builder of my crankshaft, he said that this was OK as long as I went ahead and cleaned up the surfaces (with carb/brake cleaner) and used locktite on the collar, put back onto the crank. Recommendation was to fit this collar using Locktite #640 - High strength sleeve retainer (Green) but other loctite would have probably worked as well.
In retrospect I checked an old SBT crank I have on the shelf and the collar on it was NOT loose at all.
BTW, this would have caused a leak at the rear of the crankshaft between the crank and this collar.
In retrospect, most folks don't install #16 - the coupler seal in favor of anti-sieze on the coupler threads. I wonder if this seal would also help for crank leaks?
