Securing ski

I run a High quality chain and lock. Run chain through intake grate and around drive shaft and then lock to dock. Should slow them down enough or make enough noise to make it not worth their time. I do this to my skis when they are on my hitch hauler over night. I also have a motorcycle alarm i attach so if anyone moves the cover without disconnecting it first a super loud siren goes off and wakes up the whole neighborhood.

I use masterlock pythons to lock my superjet. They work like zip ties so they fit through the bow eye. They also fit through the pin holes in my bigfoot beach cart. You can also connect 2 of them together to make one big loop and they fit very nice in my camel bak for mountain biking. There are stronger locks if you are dealing with a high crime situation but they are very versatile and great for deterrent situations.

Even after watching the video, I still may buy one. Interesting tho

Everything can be bypassed or circumvented if one is inclined, hence the term "deterrent", rather than prevention.

Of all the different ones I've tried, the Pythons were, and still are, my favorite.
Mine all rusted up and got tossed but I got 4 or 5 good years out of them.
The rounded end enables them to be fed through bow eyes, intake grates etc, and many other small openings so they are quite good for attaching the ski to something.

Keeping what the ski is attached to from getting stolen, well, that's a different discussion isn't it.

I can't count the number of houses I've made entry with my $1 knife from WalMart. I recently got past a commercial door lock with tamper plate with only a piece of etco2 tubing to access the fire alarm control panel. I did it in under a minute with no damage and locked up when we were done. I just didn't post a how to video on youtube. All locks are pretty easily defeated, even big expensive ones.

Like they say, a lock will only keep honest people honest.

The only thing you can hope is a thief is slowed down or moves on to easier pickings.

When we travel with our skis we cover them and wrap a long cable lock around the skis, trailer and covers. And insure them for just the duration of the trip.
