no its not my car. I cant really tell if its Factory Five (kit) or not, the aluminum frame pieces sticking out from under the body leads me to think it is, but then I see he has REAL Halibran wheels (spinner center), downward facing exhaust, interior (from what I can see) looks pretty dated. I would not be driving an original around town like that. But its still a pretty penny, costs about 100k to complete, we know b\c we were pricing one out, but went with a 65 cobra replica instead.
It could be an original or a really well played kit (factory five, superformance, and some other companies make it)

I was trying to get better pics of it when it was on the road, but driving 90 and trying to take pics is not easy

I just ran the license plate number, it is registered as a 1965 RF40

Almost 90% of the parts used on the Superformance GT40 roller are interchangeable with an original, including the monocoque chassis. Talk about making hard to spot an impostor! We were going to get one but the test drive turned us off. It shifted like, well, like a 40 year old car. Unfortunately the rear engine rear drive configuration doesn't leave you with many transmission options and the linkage needed to get back to one makes things even worse. We've got one of thier MKIII's tho. It is one bad ass mofo! Doesn't take two years for one of these, they come as rollers.

pshh.... superformance. You get what you pay for though, superformance's are REALLY nice. They are for two different types of people though. We went with a factory five because we wanted to build it our selves and learn, and have an experience. Superformances are pretty much turn key (minus drivetrain and wheels). I know what you mean about the 40 year old feeling, but thats why we bought them right? We recently did a 1700 mile round trip in our cobra, no top, no ac, no wipers, no nothing. It was a great time.

Our cobra really isn't that bad unless you do something crazy. Like say a 1700 mile road trip, wow. On the other hand I couldn't even finagle that GT40 into reverse. I had to get out of the driver seat and let the salesman do it and even he struggled with it for a few tries. And this was on their demo. You know that thing had some of the most knowledgeable people in the country (when it comes to these) trying to get it to work right and that's the best they could do. Uh yeah, no thanks guys. One of our buddies has a ff with a 289. SOOOOOOOOOO fun to go rip around town with those next to each other...

Wow, I've never seen one with our off the wall color scheme. I have to wonder who was first?

I like the paint on yours. A new twist on a classic design. Looks like you did a really good job on the build in general. Some guys are so quick to slap those kits together and it ends up showing in the final product.. Do you really get away with running your plate like that? Not sure that would fly around here.
