Yes we get away with our plate. Its a 65 plate painted white. We looked through the rules (or whatever you call it for the DOT) and there is nothing against it. Of course you have to have your original license\registration with you though. We've never been pulled over, but have been folowed by cops numerous times and never got pulled. Pretty lenient around here and SC. You can pretty much make anything street legal. We know a couple guys during their build they just go-cart the chassis (everything running, no body\windshield) and its perfectly legal.
