Shimming motor help?

Location
Salem, OR
Last year my midshaft took a dump so I decided to replace it. Now, trying to put it back together this year I am trying to shim the motor. I bought some used shims and got it close but it looks like the midshaft is facing to the side of the ski when looking at the couplers. It's tighter on one side than the other. Anyway, then I grabbed ahold of the midshaft and it's wobbling around. Is the pump supposed to be in in order to align the motor? When I originally aligned it I didn't know what I was doing (Apparently I stilll don't!) so I'm trying to do it right.

Thanks!

Your mid shaft should never "wobble around". You need to address that issue.
Your pump does need to be lined up. Cold fusion makes a nice tool for that.
Then your mid shaft, then your motor.

I don't understand it. The midshaft is new and the midshaft housing is new and so are all the seals and the bearing. I don't get how it can wobble?

How much "wobble"? Are you talking about pulling on it and flexing the rubber or are you lightly touching it and it bounces everywhere.

If I grab the coupler there is approximately 1/8" plate from side to side. If its centered there is approximately 1/16" play in every direction.

I haven't tried pulling on it.
