shin guards?

I was watching some freeriding videos and seen some guys wearing shin guards. Which makes alot of sense since I busted up my shin last summer on a waveraider. What are good ones to buy? something that is comfortable and wont fall off.
thanks

I tried the leg armor with the intergrated knee pads and they were too hot for southern summer riding and the knee pad always caught on the back of the tray when I wanted to get on the ski. They chafed me a lot too. I use the el cheapo walmart style shin guards and just feed velcro straps through the vents. They're ok but if you let your leg drift into the pump stream, it'll catch the upper edge and try to rip it off or at least push it down.

It's a lose lose... The shin guards are uncomfortable and hot but the leg-gina's and trips to the ER for scraping your shin down to the bone are even more sucky.

John Try the 661 veggie wraps. They dont offer a lot of protection but they work pretty well against turf rash and minor bumps and bruises. I wore them all the time when I lived down in SC

Im looking for something with a little more protection than the veggies but not to the extreme end, meaning no large plastic bits. here is what Ive seen that look like it would work. Any thoughts on these mentioned below?

TLD 5450 knee/shin
Thor static knee guard
POC VFD knee/shin $$$
Fox launch pro knee/shin

Interesting, how do you like them? Wearing over bare skin or wetsuit?

I'm a little too fat to wear them over wetsuit, just use them on bare skin. They actually work great and stay on well for the most part, I need to adjust straps here and there as I ride but work well and have already saved my shins a few times. I usually only wear them when pushing a new trick etc, don't use them for backflips anymore. But they are going to get a lot of use soon when i start working on flat spins.

What size did you get? I'm thinking the xxl, I'm 250lbs 6'3", only 34"inseam.
