Shipping hulls

What have you guys found as the best way to ship a aftermarket hull. I need one of my skis shipped from Oregon to New Jersey. Uship? Or crate it and use a freight company?

I’ve never used Uship but have shipped and received a half a dozen aftermarket hulls in plywood crates pretty reasonably. I’m in Minnesota so only half a country away from anywhere I’ve shipped. Using an LTL trucking company has usually cost me $350-$400. Cheaper than fuel round trip not to mention the time saved. Takes a week and have always shown up with no damage.

I’ve used uShip to ship several skis and had pretty good luck. The only downside was coordinating the pickup with the other party and delivery with the driver. Cost has always been between $150-$500 depending on distance.

Don’t go through freightquote- try uShip

Freightquote and some of their trucking companies will scam you. I got a hull shipped to me that weighed about 125# and quoted $300. So I paid that and got the hull no problem. A week later I get an email saying they weighed it and it was actually 275#.....BS, the hull was 75# plus crate. A year later they are still trying to get another $350 out of me

I've used Uship several times with great luck. Easy to ship with no crate and so far its been people that care about your feedback. I've used freight companies in the past as well and had one take the fork lift and rip the bottom of a hull up (was crated). Was a PITA to get them to pay for damages.
