Shock pad stock sj hood

Just got a new 2014 sj. I'm trying to figure out what's the best shock pad for it with the stock hood. It has the fire extinguisher on top of the hood making it awkward for a pad. What is everyone else doing with the stock hood? Putting the pad on the pole? Using hydroturfs premade one? I would love to run a thicker one! Ideas and suggestions would help

Pretty sure that was Zimmy.

I use two layers of 26mm and sand with super coarse sandpaper wheel to make edges squared and rounded. put the thicker pad on the pole.

Can someone send a pic of the stock hood with their shock pad installed. There is just no good spot to mount it with the fire extinguisher still in place.

I do. I just slapped a pad right on the extinguisher tube and it works fine.

What are shock pads typically made out of? I was thinking of using my underpad and turf to just make a square one. Or for those ones that have cool designs on top, are they just getting some sort of foam from the fabric store?

Honestly I had one that was made from black underpad but swapped to pfp blocks work perfect

I used the thick underpad only. Works good. glue two together if you need higher thickness.
