short hulls?

what is the shortest hull ever been ridden? would it be possible to ride a ski with about a foot or so chopped off it? i know there would be alot of headache movin the pump location and what not, but im just thinkin bout a project for if i ever find a really cheap/free hull

The 550 that was in Daytona was chopped quite a bit.

what's the purpose or goal of this project?

flatwater backy  maybe if i can get a free / super cheap hull, chop it up real short with the back angled, a super short pole, some footholds, trim, major wieght loss, and my 750 powerplant i could pull one around? i have everything except for the hull, pole, and necessary composite materials so if i just set aside about 150-200? im thinkin for a hull a 750, 550, or maybe an old square?

so how ride able is that chopped 550?

That 550 was super cool looking.

I'm about to get a Q8 EME hull. I think you are right about the super short hulls being able to flat water flip easier. I also think this will help make the double back flip doable with out going in to orbit like Pierre did. After coming back from Australia and seeing what Nick Barton was doing on a short XFT, I'm pretty excited about the potential these short hulls have.

I really like the fact that there are some many new cool hull designs out there now!

If you want to start with an FX1 hull I may be able to help you out there.

i think if your gonna take a 1' off a ski you should go all out and put the pole as far forward as possible too....

Well if you use a 550, you won't be able to get your Factory pipe in there without a redesign of the hood. I cut off 1" on my 750 and 3" on my SJ. I wouldn't go any further than that. -1" on a 750 is fairly tough to handle and I only weigh like 165lbs wet...

If I were to chop another inch off the 750, a flatwater backflip is out of the question because I would make a tight turn to get back to the setup wake and the wake would be gone by the time I got the ski moving forward again. Believe me, it takes some careful throttle feathering for me to get the 750 moving forward after a tight turn or big jump.
