shorten -2 pole problem

i have shorten my pole , but am facing steering problem .

its not running sraight , and when i trun left its so weak and sometimes it doesnt turn ,. but when turn right its not bad .

i fixed it once but after 10 min's i face the problem again :banghead:

ANy help ??

im going to guess your steering cable is not being held. so when you turn, its bending, probably at the top of the pole after the turnplate. we just made a little ^ shaped piece of aluminum and screwed it into the pole over the cable. thats what my problem was anyway, you might have a different problem.

shortening a RN pole shouldn't have any effect on steering, the cable is still mounted at the same point.

what do you fix when you fix it, is it at the pump or at the bars? sounds like its just the cable adjusted off and not tightened back up with the jam nut

I'm guessing the retainer clip that holds the cable where it comes thru the top of the pole may have fallen out or is not holding the cable. Either that or like was mentioned, your cable is bending somewhere.

Like mentioned, if you shortened the pole, then you probably had the steering cable out, and when you put it back in it didn't get fastened properly and is moving now.

Take off your chinpad and check to see if this piece is missing.

where can i get a retainer clip like that? I don't have one. I used zip ties and a drill to fix it to the side when this problem happened to me while riding. It was tough to get back in with the waves.

Anyone have a spare retainer?

I had the same problem with my SXR. Took it into the dealer to have warranty work on the pole. Got it back and took off on the lake to find that I could not turn left but it would turn right. Found that they did not lock the cable into the mount.

I'd like to be second on that list. I'm gonna need one to finish my RN pole on a SN ski switcharooski.

If everything is put back together properly I would say you need a new steering cable. Same thing happened to my FX-1 last year (could only turn right) the cable was corroded through and it was scarry to only turn one way.

I was looking for one too and BK said...hey, just make yourself one.
I made that one from a thick motor mount shim. I fired it up with the grinder. It works perfect.

I can vouch for this one. You can fix a lot with a zip tie.
