I was thinking about chopping off a lot from my 650, but im about 195lbs. So i might chop a similar amount but move the engine forward a little, and definitely get a shorter pole/mount the current one farther forward. or ill just get a 300sx

You could get a X2 driveshaft. They are about 6" longer. Not sure you'd be happy with that move, but you could move the battery and waterbox behind the motor (maybe) so you'd have some room to balance it back out.

you can alwasy start over with a new hull. those 650sx are pretty cheap. might cost what your looking at in fiberglass

I was thinking of moving my pole mount forward also, and I will also be making an adjustable handlepole, but I think that'd be a little too much glass work this time round, but we'll see.

First off good on you for chopping it. Cool idea. I would like to hear how it turns out when you get done. Go get a alum pole and a light weight batt (balistic). Quickest way to drop weight. Get it done already.

Pole: Making a custom twin tubed one that should drop quite a bit of weight off that mother of a stock pole

Battery: Hadn't though about switching batteries--will put it on my list of things to do!

Ballistic batt weighs a little over two pounds and is half the size of a regular batt. I think a regular batt is 10 to 12 pounds. I know my alum pole is wAy lighter than my stock pol as well. I added some weight when I built my ski and Threw a 750 in mine. Deff way better than a moded 650. What are you doing for a power plant in that thing.

Wow yea, I'll definitely change batteries.

Power Plant: Ported 650 engine, high compression head, 44mm mikuni sbn, factory pipe, nitrous oxide injection (plan is to start with a 10hp boost and work my way up to a good boost), a Solas 14-19, and a lightened flywheel.

Another thing you can do if it's riding nose high is get some nose/pump spacers. There's a couple for sale over on pwctoday. It will put your nozzle at an angle, in this case a downward angle to keep your back up.

If you can find the parts do the same thing to a 750 go do it and swap that 650 out. You can find a 750ss anywhere for cheap. Way better torque than a moded 650. My flat deck is stock bore with ocean pro head and full exhaust. Hauls ass. And great bottom end. I just bought one of those jet works flow valve. Supposed to help with drying out the water box for the low end power and low speeds better response.

Things still running strong, winterized it today.

I really like how it handles being so short, and I don't find the nose ever riding too high. Took a little practice to do subs since I was used to being further back in the try initially, but now the ski feels totally normal (and I'm sure having a -6" pole helped move me forward). My dad hasn't ridden it much, but he's 180lbs and doesn't have any trouble with the ski being short. I find I actually have a smoother plane in it's current configuration than a full length hull. I can twirl and spin it around all day, sub it easily, and go WOT and not have it porpoise at all and that's with a ride plate that's cut 5".

glad i read up on this, i just got a 650 hull to mess around with, gonna chop front off a lil and roll it rite up to top deck like a rickter, move hand pole up to where gas fill is, try and lower the center of hood so the pole will lay even with hood and not be stuck up so damn high like the stock look, prob going with aftermarket pole, the 2 tube type, gonna take prob just 2inch off rear, i cant wait to start it and see what i come up with, if all works out, im gonna take my 800 thats got all kinds of goodies outs of my x2 and put it in there with my sxr 800 cut back prop
