Super Jet Shortened Superjet with set back pump and Dasa power

After many months of building my Superjet it is finally getting close to hitting the water. I started with my 97 hull. From there I stripped the hull down and took out all the water logged foam. I shortened the hull 4” by cutting a section out of the back of the hull and moving the back section forward to retain the existing ride plate inserts. By cutting out 4” I was able to still use any ride plate that will work on a SN. I added a layer of 1708 biax for reinforcement to the complete hull and glassed back in the rear pieces of the hull.

I then used a wear ring and Blaster drive shaft to set the pump back in the hull 3”. While the tray was cut open I glassed in a third set of pump inserts for the now set back pump. Now I had to extend the steering cable thru hull attachment. For this I threaded a piece of ½” plumbing and used a plastic nut from a bathroom faucet to tighten the extended pipe to the hull. I added a coupler and at the end of the extended pipe and re used the existing steering cable fitting. Now the cable sets back 3” to match the pump. I removed my existing Blowsion one way valve for a Epic scupper valve. I also picked up a new Epic light weight coupler. These two parts look great and the magnets on the scupper valve work great to keep it shut.

For the engine I was going to go with a Dasa 850SS from Nuklear6 but when he came out with his 4mm stroker version of the stock stroke cylinder I changed my mind and went with that. Chuck was great to work with during the engine build and couldn’t believe how nice these engines were when I received it. I picked up a set of 46 Blackjack’s with Mikuni intake and reed spacer from Hardcore.

Now with the added power I went with the new Solas SS mag pump I got from Cold Fusion. Then got a Hooker 11/17 impeller and bearing/seal kit from Jetmaniac.

Freestyle 650, Nuklear6, Jetmaniac, Hardcore, and Cold Fusion all have been great to work with on my build.

i'm going to try my hand at some composite ride plats. I'm also doing -3 hull. planning to testing an OEM length plate, d-cut plate, and a -3 plate to see which works. if my project works out, look for plates in the marketplace. or if you're interested pm me.

When in doubt, Throttle-out.
This looks awesome! How far did you shorten the rear of the hull? 4 inches? 6 inches?

P.S. I shortened my hull similarly, but left all of the ridges where the ride-plate rests on at stock length (whereas, you cut them shorter).
I was worried that the torque from the rider weight could cause the forward ride-plate insert-mounts to rip out of the hull...
Should I not be worried about the insert-mounts ripping out?

((The foam needs to be sanded off from vacuum bagging, but you see what I am talking about))

I cut mine back 4". I still have 4 ride plate mounts so I'm not worried about them ripping out. As long as you have 4 you should be fine.

I shortened my sides around 6 inches. I am past the center mounts... I would probably would rip them out :-/

I have an extended ride plate to promote the ski to plane out, but shortened the sides to give a rocker, banana feel.
I still have yet to test it though, so it's really a crapshoot at this point.

Got the tray foamed using EPP foam and then a top coat of expanding foam to hold everything together and give a base for laying the fiberglass. Widened the rear of the tray and modified a set of foot holds.

Its all complete now. I have ran 4 tanks through it and I am starting to get it all dialed in. I'll post pictures soon.
