Super Jet Should I buy this ski???

I have owed 2 sn's, and only ridden a fx-1 once, however, I would go Fx-1. Its a light ski, thats slightly difficult to ride. If you were to learn on it, you would be a far superior rider once you jump on a different ski.

Hard call, Fx-1's do have a cultish following, but most of those guys ride surf. FX has 701, but has small pump. fx has narrow tray, and some parts that are fx only. I would go with a clean SN over the FX, but im sure you will get many diff opinions on this one

I will agree with mdavies post that learning on a ski thats not as easy to ride will increase your basic rider skills, i would throw the 440/550 into the same catagory of harder to ride but once you figure it out your better off

I would not buy it. I bought a very similar jet ski last year for 3000 with a bunch of good parts, ad looked exactly like that one. The seller said it had a little bog and it just needed to be jetted right for the B pipe. I'm mechanical so I didn't care. But there ended up being so many things wrong with it and I have been chasing the problem for months now (almost a year) and still cannot get it running right. There's numerous problems that it could be and the chances of you diagnosing the right part to replace the first time would be hard. If you don't want a headache DO NOT buy a jet ski that isn't running right. Theres a reason why the seller himself didnt fix it, because he couldnt figure it out. Maybe you could get lucky and its just a little carburetor work but there's a chance it could be way more than that, I know from experience.

I would buy it for sure, but I dont mind the headache...this whole sport is a headache anyways. For $2500, you shouldnt lose any money. Buy it, tear it completely down, and rebuild it.

It's missing alot of the bolt on goodies, but I'd contact him and see what he would let it go for it. For a first ski, you can live without a pipe.

Doesn't show a battery. Make sure it runs, most common excuse for a poorly running ski is
"Just needs a battery"

grab that fx1. once you master that thing most other skis will be a breeze to toss around! and that little pump with a skat swirl in it will make it a whole different animal!

I have a 1991 Square nose that I just put footholds in and the stock foam was still bone dry. Its a virgin, still has the stock graphics. Brand new footholds, brand new turf job, Stock 701 swap, 155 psi in both cylinders, I think a skat track 13/17, R & D scoop grate, protec ride pate, alluminum pole, primer kit. Sounds like the perfect ski for you. However I am not going to give it away because its so clean. I also have a Wet jet pipe cut and rewelded for a superjet sitting on my shelf if you want to go with cheaper bpipe power! I dont even have the ski listed for sale anywhere because I would rather not sell it but text me and I will send you some pics. Im driving to work right now 4042752869 Doug

I would sell it for $2000

Oh and I live right here in Atlanta :)

I would also like to add that by reading the ad it sounds like the seller has no clue what he's talking about. To me it seems like he bought the ski from some guy already in this condition and tried to fix it himself only to find out that he can't find the problem and is reselling it. I would stay away unless you plan on parting it.
