650/X-2 Should I get this 1987 x2?

I'm not really looking for a third ski. But wth.

Found an excellent condition x2 fs on craigist from the original owner, who says he got it new in the late 80s. Since about 1994 the ski has been winterized and stored properly. A month ago owner restored it to running shape by draining/flushing fluids and replacing the oil injector lines. Primed motor with a premix. Once the carb pumped he said it starting right up.

It's totally stock except for a handlebar. From the pictures I believe somewhat the owner says it may have only about 25 hours on it. Bottom has no scratches from the pictures. $800

Looking later this morning. But any help is appreciated. This is the first one fs I've seen in awhile.

$800 for a MINT 1987 is fair. Bolt-on power upgrades are inexpensive. 87's have the squirrel cage steering which is preferred over the direct.

Sounds like a great ski to build up and ride.

Got it $700. Things mint. 155psi. Original owner used it for one year.

It's old but clean. Gotta get her waxed. Looks 1 season used.

They are fun skis but you will want more power after about 5 mins of riding it!

Zero, I've got a couple of X2's. You should have took mine for a spin at Huguenot when we were riding together! I have 550's, 650's, 750's, SN SJ 701's, waveblaster 1's, and had a 800sxr! These X2's are just as fun as any of them! Im putting a 750 small pin into one now and hoping Dustin 88 is gonna deliver me another hull come Daytona time for me to chop up! Yeah, get in touch with Dustin I am sure he has plenty of x2 parts. He may ride a Yamaha but he is a Kawi guy at heart. lol

Ignore these crazies. Just ride it and enjoy it.

When you get bored with the power, Carb, prop, pipe, head, electronics, in that order. 44mm carb and Westcoast or coffmans pipe will bolt right on a 750 if you decide to swap motors.

If you don't like the handling, make some choices in any order. Options are Tom21 sponsons, Tom21 nose fill, ride plate, AM steering or quicksteer stocker, bar mounted trim, shortened hull.

Or, do like most X2 owners, get crazy modding it and don't ever ride it.
