would you say that J kenny's single carb is holding him back?

it's not like he goes huge in every single pic I see of him or anything...

Absolutely not. I talked to him about this a little bit at the Blowsion Beach Party.
The kind of extra power that duals provide isn't required in the surf.
Heck, Randy Laine runs a stock 760 cylinder, with stock electrics, single carb, and a pipe!

I think that a single carb is very useful for those guys because if something needs to be fixed and/or tuned, it is MUCH easier to do with a single.

I don't need my boat to jump higher than joe's boat.

I'd rather work on my skill level than my carb

I don't know about you - but my carbs have been dialed in for months, and have not required maintenance or tuning since then.

I didnt know we were talking what you need
i thought its was about what you want

Most of the skis we ride have more pwer than alot of the freeriders out there

Heck you can backflip a stock ski in the surf
Well some people can i cant

mine too. no need to slap dual on there.

BINGO!!!

I was considering going single a while back. What stopped me was the realization that my duals were running perfectly fine. I didn't have any "complications" or problems that needed solving by changing the setup.
Hence I stayed with my duals.
Additionally, a single carb setup will cost just as much as dual (44) on a 62T motor.

Hey, if it works....don't F with it.

That's nonsense. LBE is running a complete single carb mani + stock 46mm that he picked up for $150. I'm running a single mani + 46mm buckshot that would equate to about $200-$250.

I realy wouldnt expect to get more power or hit by going single carb. Maybe you should lighten the flywheel, and do a bigbore......you would notice more of a power diffrence at least. IMO

i would say you would notice the oppisite
a correctly setup set of twin carbs will make for more power

Just speaking from my own experience. I was looking at the ATP manifold and something other than a regular 44SBN or 46SBN. So I guess I should have clarified better - I wasn't going to run the Riva manifold, nor was I going to run any run of the mill old Mikuni -> I didn't want to lose power or WOT capability (no surf for me, unfortunately), so I had to look at more expensive parts.
For me, that would have made it too expensive.

The cost of a new Riva single carb kit is ridiculous. 400 bucks for an old Kawi manifold and a 44SBN.
I was looking at the ATP mani and a Riva Powerbomb.

But, I found no fault in my dual 44's, so I let it be.

Use the new freestyle 48mm Novi on a ATP manifold and that is a pretty solid combo for freestyle, but if you want to play with the big dogs on flatwater, Duals is where it's at for horsepower.
