should i keep my scupper?

so, im building up a hull and it has a one way valve that lets out into the pump area. i have no experiance with scuppers, have heard they are awsome, and have hear horror stories. my scupper is the home depot pvc pipe and one way valve. what should i do? leave it? take it out? sould i add another one way valve and have two right next to each other so it wont leak as much? --{}--{}-- what are your thoughts?

please tell me your opinions, i have no experiance with these, anything will be helpful. Thanks! -Danny

My hull curently has a scupper and I dont like it. My next hull will not have one! I ride Lake Michigan when there are waves and the oceans a couple times a year. I feel that for the type of riding I do the scuppers dont help out, only hurt. Mine was not sealed up well also, so my ski weights a :):):):) load. I think I will just go with two bilge pumps on the next hull.

I think the scuppers are better for freestyle, so they lose the water quickly. They dont have time to wait for the bilge to pump it out. Just my thinking.

It's all preference so you have to weigh the pro's and con's of each to determine what's best for your riding style. A little water leak when it's just floating and fast water drain when you're riding or little to no water leak but water comes out slower via bilge pumps.

if you ride flat water or want to do flatwater freestyle then you need it but if you ride surf then block it off its easier then removing it altogether and if you enter a comp later down the track you can unblock it.

They are an accident waiting to happen for surf freeriding cause when you get seperated from your ski and your ski turns upside-down it will sink completely in less then a minute.

I blocked mine off using a 35mm sink plug from inside the boat and am installing an 1100gph bilge pump.
