I knew there was a reason I shoot video of the WF freestyle every year. Be your own judge on who won. Here are videos of all the amateur and pro freestyle. Even some video of the Japanese guys doing amazing things practicing at Body Beach. There is also video of Lee Stone riding the ski that supposed wouldn't tun left but seems to turn left just fine. The judges usually get it right:

Remember that industry insiders are the ones scoring events. No low budget rider will ever be allowed to win regardless of his skills.

Funny, I don't remember seeing any of the big wigs scoring world finals last season? Look at Alexander petrovic who threw a fit when he didn't make the podium last year at wf. His routine sucked, didn't land his tricks, and his scores reflected that. He couldn't fathom that someone would be wearing the true #1, and cried like a girl and had his girl do the same for him. Your comment is way off base.

friggin cracks me up man, to win 1st place all you have to do is repetative backflips, barrel rolls, 180's and 360's. Wow. and you need a 30g boat to do it..., and the Ijsba wants to complain about attendance counts, lack of participants, and how they're underfunded....lol

I was just watching last years WF freestyle vids and had a thought. They should give some kind of chitty trophy or award to the rider who performs the most fist pump / opera conductor moves between tricks. Maybe the announcer could count them out loud as they happen. bag.JPG

Then you know what they can do with their golden fist trophy...

I got bored watching the freestyle finals last year and made the drive home. One backy followed by ten fist pumps...it was ridiculous! The jap riders were the worst offenders. Don't get me wrong, I think anyone that can do them has mad skill. It just doesn't excite me.

Equipment vendors and event promoters share the same bed. Event MCs and judges set the narrative and price of winning, somehow its always at the expensive end of what is commonly available. The industry went from wanting the most money from the most people to wanting the highest margin from a few. Only difference between now and 25 years ago is price structure, ten times the participation at one tenth the cost.
