Single Speed Rigid 29er MTB advice?

I want to buy or build a single speed rigid 29er. Anyone have any advice on bikes or frames? I'd like to start in the low to mid 20s for weight, and be able to upgrade components after that to drop lbs. How much $ should I expect to pay for a 20 lb bike?

I'm 5'9", what size frame am I looking for?

Buddy of mine has a salsa el mariachi single speed in Reynolds steel. Not the lightest single speed, but an awesome handling bike. I didn't think I would like it as I had never ridden single before , but was surprisingly pleased with it. There is something about the simplicity of a SS setup.

I ride my Gary Fisher Rig 29r SS more than my Titus Full Suspension bike. Personally if your wanting low weight. I would look at NINER One9 with the Niner Carbon fork.

Yeah, I like the simplicity of the single speed, and it is a good workout. I found a NINER sir9, and some different frames for sale. Not sure which route to go yet. I think Gary Fisher is the same as the TREK?
