Singlespeed love

After building up my full susp. bike over the winter, I got the bug for a singlespeed. SO, i picked up a GT Pantera AL as a donor, and built a SS this weekend. The GT had been backed into with a car, and had bent/broken wheels, shifter pod, v-brake arm, forks, handlebars, and seat. A quick trip to my local Performance Bicycle store, and i had everything I needed to build a nice bike.
I mounted WTB Graffiti 2.2 tires on Shimano Deore wheels. Then coupled the GT 3 ring chainwheels to a Forte singlespeed conversion kit with a new chain. Next, I was able to reuse the Bontragger gel seat, Suntour XCM forks, and mechanical disk brakes left over from my full susp. build. New Forte pedals and Oury grips complete the bike.
This is the perfect cruiser for around the house, and a great bike for my wife and friends, too.

After a few good rides, I decided to try a dingle setup - but with a twist. I guess it's not a true "dingle", but maybe a "thingle"? I mounted a front deraileur, and limited it's movement to the middle and small rings. The Forte chain tensioner wouldn't take up the slack of the small ring, so I made a secondary tensioner that is now mounted to the Forte tensioner. Works great. Now I have a 2 speed bike! :Banane35:AND it shifts on the fly with no tools. I love it when a plan comes together.
