SJ 2009 engine won't start

After all checks and troubleshooting I thought I made a great job :) because I tried to start the engine in my garage and it ran like am hitting the full throttle after that I pulled the carburetor and I cleaned it then reassembled. When I finished that I went to the shore and I placed the ski on the water and I hit the start button the ski cranked but didn’t start then I started to check the fuel lines and they were ok and I checked the plugs spark and they were acceptable after that I hit start but still not starting so I decided to remove the flame arrestors to chock the carbs by covering them by hand then the engine started for few seconds with a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust outlet which I think it happened because of oil in the bottom of the engine. Then I did the chocking again and when the engine started I hit the throttle to keep the engine running and it worked fine but with a continues clicking sound which I don’t know where it came from but when I released the throttle the engine stopped and won’t start again just cranking.

What can I do to fix this s**t ? If this is happening because of fuel lines please advise and show me a fuel line diagram for dual 38’s to match it with mine.

If this is happening because of carburetor settings then I have to tell you that my engine is 772cc with a B pipe, TDR waterbox, MSD enhancer and ignition coils and riva flame arrestors.

Please I need someone to help me and to be specific and if it needs some pic’s and videos to help, I will post anything to make it easy.

Sounds like a broken reed or a bad msd enhancer.

I checked the reed and nothing broken. Thought may be air leak then I took the engine out to check all bolts tightening torque and I found some are little bit loose then all back again and attempted to start still the same cranking but won't start.
Last thing I did is I took out the flywheel to check and clean then I found the woodruf key is broken in half. Can it be my problem????

Yes the flywheel will not be secure and it won't fire consistently

Also, we have new and used OEM woodruff keys for the Superjet in stock if you're interested.

You need to start with the basics. Have you confirmed spark? You can do this by unscrewing your spark plugs from the head. Inserting the plug fully into the plug boot and ground the bottom post to the head of the motor while pressing the start button.

Next confirm compression with a compression guage

If you have spark and compression your issue is with fuel delivery.

Both spark and compression confirmed and about the fuel I can see the flow from the filter to the second carb to the return. how can I install the key backward would you explain?

Can I say because the woodruff key is broken, the engine won't start?
And If the key is broken how I still have a good cranking and sparks from the plugs?

Magnets in the flywheel trigger the spark. With key broke your more than likely not triggering the spark at the correct time. Replace the key before you blow your reeds out

So i'll say that the reason behind engine won't start is the woodruff key and also it was the cause of the continuous clicking sound. Right??

Finally the engine started after I replaced the woodruff key.
I checked the flywheel surface and the slot and found all fine. But I saw that the bendix location in the crankcase is chipped making the bendix unstable which I think it causes an abnormal sound when I hit start button the sound is like a mismatch gears. Any ideas??
Is there a different between 2009 bendix and older ones??

The bendix drives are all the same. It seems you need a new bushing in the crank case and maybe in the cover also. They can be removed easily with a 1/2" tap (not easy to find in other countries). I strongly suggest you stop cranking the engine until repaired. The loose bushing might ruin the splines (teeth) of the starter and the bendix. The bushing in the picture is used on both ends of the bendix.P1050423.JPG
