The rubber dampener section in my Intermediate bearing housing has partially separated from the outer aluminum collar, resulting in the intermediate shaft having a little bit of play in it. Is it OK to run it this way or will doing so cause the the splines to strip on my drive and intermediate shafts?

If its a small seperation can you inject sealant? Ive done one with a rubber urethane I got from the auto parts store and it sealed it like new. It was a 3M product got it at Advance Auto : http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/...CEK3_nid=GS51JKDTTHgsNGQGZXQ0C5gl0NNCGJPCKHbl

This stuf is the SCHIZZLE have made motor mounts out of it!

But remember it also seperated for a reason, excess wobble? Hows the shim alignment? Or is the bearing maybe going bad? Or if you got the funds replace it and go ride!!!

About 1/3 of the rubber is separated. The mid shaft can flex up to 1/8th of an inch with very little effort. I'm not as concerned with buying a new one as I am with the three weeks it will take me to get one. I don't want to waste a drive shaft and mid shaft though. So does this 3m stuff glue the rubber back to the metal? Is it the same/What does Yamaha use to glue the rubber dampener into the collars in the first place?

Where are you ordering parts that takes 3 weeks?? My local dealer usually has my parts in 3 days. Yam vulcanizes the rubber while it's in the housing, giving it a good bond.

My local dealer can get them for me in that time also, I just have to pay twice as much (sometimes a neccessary evil). I usually order from either Greater Yamaha or DGY and pay half for OEM parts, only problem is it takes 2-3 weeks to get my parts
