Freestyle SJ vs 144mm pump FX-1

Im selling my X2 and looking to come to the light side. Just wondering....I really prefer the styling of the FX-1 over the SJ. If i do the pump conversion and reenforce the hull, is there any other differences between that and an SJ. I am looking at probably 70% flatwater and 30% surf riding. What are the thoughts from the seasoned Yami guys?
Also, is this a decent buy?

There's really no comparing the two, totally different hulls, materials, weights etc. Loved my 144 pump fx1, but they're squirrely and will pitch you at any given point for no reason whatsoever. Sj is def more stable and predictable, wider, heavier. Ride an fx1 and see if you like it first IMO. I miss mine and may be buying it back soon....

That one is way high. If it had a big pump it would still be high IMO. But I guess its/ their worth whatever someone will pay. Dragginblazer is right. They seem to be going up in price. Dicks.

If you had one with a Kawi 140 pump or a 144 yami pump it might be worthwhile to go that route. Hit up Tom21 on here. He has some FX1 goodness brewing up concerning 144 pump cavities.

But to answer your question i've had both and Motoman is right about them pitching you. For all around free ride the SJ is hard to beat. You can shorten it 2-4" and get that short feel that you're looking for. Thats just my $.02.

I can't lie, if I found another one for a decent deal i'd pick it up. Its like a emotionally unstable ex-girlfriend that rocked you in bed.

I have very little tray time in on a sj and none on a FX1 but i just feel like SJ's are pretty big and heavy. I guess the short answer is I need to ride the fx1. I would do a pump swap for sure. What is a fair offer? 2k?

Its all personal preference, I've ridden both and can say that I am way more comfortable on the FX-1, but I like the nimble tippy feel that it has. They are definitely harder to ride, but I ride small lakes most of the time, its completely different on big water.

IMO don't listen to anybody, ride them both and decide for yourself what you like best.

Wow! That's way overpriced. My cousin and I got a similar one (same year) for 1,200 bucks and it runs flawless.
