Just a consideration. Be careful if you use YRC Freight (and maybe others?). They require you ship on a pallet. That is good. But their pricing is width x height x length x weight.

The pallet will add height and weight. And if you don't trim the pallet to the width and length of the footprint of your ski, they will use the entire width and length of your pallet to price your shipping. I received a decent quote pre-shipping from YRC. Then they "recalculated" the price post-delivery and billed me for the price of a full width pallet.

YRC sent me a post bill after shipping 2 separate skis with them. One was a carbon hull, the other was a complete ski. Both on pallets. The bill they sent me claimed each weighed 499lbs to the pound which was clearly not true. They make it impossible to fight it. This seems to be a common occurrence with almost everyone i know that’s used YRC. That’s how those scum bags make their money.

My buddy is an insured transporter. He is leaving NJ next week and will be in socal around the 27th of September. Price is around $1000 to $1500 coast to coast.

Can the ski be sent on a shop cart so it can be wheeled? And what kind of ski is it? And where in NY?

He specializes in motorcycles/quads/skis and does the trip every month or 1.5 months and equipment is all 2023.
