Couple guys turned me on to riding with music a while back.

I've been riding with music for two years now in the surf and I absolutely love it. I too was skeptical at first about not being able to hear my ski well, but I quickly found a good balance and now rarely ride without my setup. I've actually called it quits early because my ipod died. Nothing like listening to your favorite pump up jam while working up the confidence to try a new trick or go bigger.

One of the best Jetski investments I've made: http://www.amazon.com/SILVER-WATERP...id=1384666648&sr=8-1&keywords=waterproof+ipod

Get yourself a 20 dollar pair of waterproof headphones with a short cord and you're good to go. I either keep the shuffle zip tied to the front of my helmet or on my life jacket zipper. I can switch songs, pause, and adjust volume on the fly with no problem. A couple of us also wear swim caps to help keep the earbuds from falling out when wearing a helmet.

Wife bought me the orange one last year for christmas.
Still have not used it:(
Can't wait to try it though, would be way better than singing to myself out load...thats not to pretty.
I am not that swift with computers (dont even have one at home just my phone)and the downloading of songs so hopefully a buddy will take care of that for me.

No matter what season or type of ride, I just love the sweet sound of pure 2 stroke horsepower.

I don't. Loud skis are obnoxious as hell. On the other hand the smell is cool. Sometimes I start my ski on the trailer then snort the exhaust*. But I digress.

What's wrong with you guys? I've thought about mounting speakers on my firewall before. You can mount the preamp with an SD card slot so the pots poke through in between them. Volume, skip buttons, and a 2 band eq to adjust for wind level. When its blowing hard just be generous on the treble.

headphones are a good idea too. IMO hearing other boats around you is a non issue. You can't hear :):):):) on the water except your own boat and the splash you make. Let's be honest. As long as you can see whats coming you're good.

I went with a Polyplanar system on my super chicken sc650. No head deck to worry about, as your mp3 player plugs directly into the the amp.

I run dual batteries with a combiner.

I'd never considered putting one on a stand up though. It would be a fun novelty project, but too many crazy boaters out there, you need to keep your ears on your surroundings.

i can't hear anything but my own ski when i ride.. you guys must have really good hearing if you can hear someone else with your ski running... i'd say as long as you can hear your own ski while using headphones, you're good.. if you're the guy blasting your tunes so loud you can't hear yourself think(this is how my brother rides his rocket), then you deserve to have engine issues...

I don't get this AT ALL! My music while riding is tuned throttle response and precious B pipe screams!

Dude imagine setting your playlist for the wave frequency that day....music tempo can equal wave period. It's close together and gnarly? Throw on some slayer or some punk rock. If we're lucky and its big and super clean maybe some floyd? lol
