I couldn't find many build outs for hauling 2 skis so I figured it'd start one.
Today I bought a 2017 Ford transit low roof RWB cargo van. It was used by an old man delivering printed material daily over Texas. 258k miles. It was super clean, drives great, so it's worth the $8k I paid for it. I wanted the LWB but, can't complain for the $$. So, this is the beginning and a few pics of it as I received it today. I'll start posting updates as I build it out

I’m using some roll n go’s I had laying around. They have these nice cranks I wanted to use, but they end up taking up too much of the space I wanted for gear. So I’m removing the winch and center it’s connected to and cutting the rails down to 4.5’. 4 rollers touch where the hull is flat. So they only needed to be 4’ long roller to roller. It looks short but will work perfectly 0733EBF8-F015-4DC8-AD22-B377703788D6.jpeg239BA269-40FC-43AF-B02F-BA698529F192.jpeg

Cut down there’s just enough room to get the skis in and lots up front. It looks like there’s no support in front but a ski only lays flat on the bunks for about 2/3 of its length anyway. I plan to add extra wheels between wheel 1-2 and 3-4 for some extra support. This is a helium and rickter in the van at the approx location where I’ll be bolting down the racks. @Krenn Power Sports l like the roller idea! But keeping the skis in place,l’m guessing you will put something in the front to keep them from moving? The reason l am asking is l just bought an 03 AWD Safari van that l plan to do something similar.Just need to figure how to keep them in place.l will have to make the heights of the two racks different to keep them side by side.

The van has 150k on it.Bought it knowing 3rd gear was gone, but in the shop right now having the tranny rebuilt.Plan on new brakes and shocks, plus new wheels and tires.l start a build thread soon as l get it back.

l will definitely be falling your build! Looks great!

My plan is the same way I do my trailers (well opposite but the same concept) the rear will have a permanent length loop that will catch the ski when it rolls back and tightens up as more rear weight is applied (like a lasso) and the front I will use a bolt on retractable ratchet strap holding it backwards and down. I should have that done in the next few days.

I was gonna suggest a Husky Liner type insert but they don't make one for the cargo area.
Something that keeps the water and sand out of the body joints will go a long way in keeping the rust at bay.

It's a bit more of a commitment but you could always rhino line it too.

Get you one of those big rubber mats like you put in the bed of a pickup!!!!!!!!!! Keep stuff from sliding!!!!!!!!!
That’s my next install. For the cargo area in front of the skis. The back under the skis I’ll leave painted so I can just throw a towel under the skis to catch any water. I’m also installing a partition to divide front from back to give me another “wall” to mount or strap stuff to.

I would look at Rhino Lining the rear, this way all joints would be sealed up. This way water would run right off and out.
Problem is the van tilts forward a bit. So it will run forward. So I’d be committed to find a way for it to run forward and out. I plan to just throw a few towels under the skis to soak up and dry. Plus skid will be pretty drained before I put them up just by tilting on cart.

Be nice if WeatherTech made a universal large cargo liner. But it would be expensive.

Here is an idea.It would be enough to catch the water:

Also just tilt the skis back and let them drain for 30 min or so

When I pull a ski out I tilt it to a 45* on the cart and blow the water out anyway. Should t be much of an issue. I’m actually going to try ans take care of my new skis lol

btw. Here’s today’s progress. Cleaned up wheels and got the grit out that was keeping them from rolling. Added 4 more wheels to each for better coverage. I noticed I can tighten them up so they don’t roll easy which is a blessing. I didn’t the first time and my ski would want to just roll out of the van. Tightened up 4 on each to help it not want to roll out. I added self-retracting straps on front, the rear I just use a normal strap and tighten then let the ski come back and tighten up. The front pulls it back even more to hold it in place. I then mounted them to the floor. 3652A04A-C25D-454B-9272-BECA71E19BA8.jpegCEA12E18-89B6-4904-80B5-2428079BBD9F.jpeg36CEB2CA-EDBA-493F-8ADB-B327FD03B9C3.jpeg14FC63A7-70BE-40AC-8733-F6BEAA9A7800.jpeg9ED77586-0B87-428F-8E0A-C58956341C75.jpeg
