What about the differential vent? Doesn't the diff have a vent? When you back down that far how does it not fill w water?

Diff usually vents up onto the frame rail.

Diff vents run pretty high and usually have a check ball in them so it should be ok. But regular diff fluid changes are reccamended for any truck that sees water

Axle seals are lower and can leak but its minimal. Just do your regular fluid changes

Salt water.... come to Wisconsin for a winter more salt here than you guys will ever see backing into a boat ramp.

yea don't back in salt.. i just bolted a winch to my bed and dunk the rear end on lakes and winch it in...theres acouple threads on here about this

My rig. Not great for long trips anywhere, but works real well when you don't need to pack a bunch of stuff. Built it specifically for skis. Crane- $75, wireless remote controlled winch- $79, sling- $60. Has 50' of cable, could load/unload off a bridge if I wanted...

i wish i had pictures. i had rails on 2x4 attached to unistrut like on the first page. drove the jeep into the water and pushed the ski out without ever leaving the jeep rofl. most people thought i was nuts. but the $500 cherokee was cheaper than a nice trailer

Super easy and cheap. Keeps skis from rocking around, gets them above my fifth wheel brackets, so no mat is needed.
I need to add some carpet but thought I'd share.

Lossingm gave me one of these when I picked up a hull from him. It was such a good idea, I made the other one to match.

Materials (per Stand):
13' of 2x4
wood screws, I used 20 2" screws per stand.

3' bunks x2
10.5" center x3
2' Bottom x2

i built this rack out of leftover materials i had lying around the shop, so free! worked great for 1000 mile drive to surfslam. i bought the ramp from someone on here, cant remember who but it works great. i even have a cheap little hand wench from harbor freight that allows me to do it solo.

Nothing I own touches the saltwater now...Imagine how I felt on this trip...I would not have been happy if i damaged my Matrix before it had ever even touched the water.

Mine is done dirtbike ramp with wheels and winch on the bed (pulls my ski up with a push of a button) . If you need roller blades wheels just visit your local thrifty store
