Sled trailer conversion (Now with pics)

I wanted my sled trailer to do more than sit idle all summer and this coincided with my old utility/ski hauler needing to be renewed.

Started with a Triton sled trailer, tilt deck, 8' wide 10' long. first i sized up the ski, primarily its a 2 ski hauler but i pre drilled all the holes for a 3 bunk set up as the eldest boy is about to finally get his own ski as well.
did a dry run to ensure good tongue weight on trailer . then i placed 2" pvc bolted down with stainless hardware. i then covered the entire deck and bunks in astro turf.

afterwards i bolted down a nice locking box, 5' x 24"w x 18.5"h gives me 14.5 cubic feet of lockable area. fits a rubbermaid bin with all wet gear ie booties gloves wetsuit helmets, has a couple milk crates for 2 stroke oil, trailer spares, basic tools for the ski camping chairs..you know, all the crap i got tired of throwing in and out of the truck. ;-)

the rest is stainless hardware anchors for tie down points, the only thing i am still waiting for are the bow stopers which will get bolted to the box as well and then its just drop a hitch pin in the front of ski, tie down on back and drive away.

with only 2 skiis i can easily throw the pvc stands in the middle and when theres a 3rd.. the stands will be the only thing in the truck bed.

the beauty is i can convert this back to sled trailer in winter wirthin an hour..its just a different kinda ski in winter months lol. super quick and easy to offload or load up specially with a tilting deck for those shallow areas ie not legit boat ramps..4x4 into a river to unload kinda spots.View attachment 251712 View attachment 251712

sled gear removed, testing ski positioning before turf

Astro turf, bolt down bunks and other tie down points, took off the railing to have the carpet beneath, helps hold it down and makes a very clean line
trailer 3.jpg
big locking box to hold all the gear including fuel, bow stops( awaiting shipping) to be bolted into box to hold front of ski

Tie down and pole bungy work from same anchor avoids scratching the hull with bungie, drilled 1/2" hole in front of trailer frame and BELL style cable lock through rear eyelet and frame to protect from the "honest" thief

room for both stands to fit between skiis

I definitely stole this idea from you, it is great. Here is what i ended up doing. I am also going to install 3/8th I bolts through the deck for straps and bungies to hook to like you did.

made my bunks out of aluminium rigid conduit, same thing is done on the other side.

Did a very quick job with the carpet as you can see there is some wrinkles but it works great. just used screws and washers to hold it down and put a metal strip across the front carpet edge so it wouldn't lift in the wind. (Below)

Mounted a locking toolbox to the front. another great idea i stole :p

Dont put your wetsuits in that box along with the gas cans. The fuel vapor will straight up eat your seals. Nom nom nom
