Surfriding Sliding the 08+ Superjet

Hey all, im looking for opinions. I rode my 08 superjet alot this year and I don't like how it doesnt slide out the rear like my 750SX did. I feel like it's impossible to slide it without carrying loads of speed. For this reason I left the stock intake grate on and shortened my ride plate even with the hull. I have a quick steer on it and it still feels very difficult to slide out at lower speeds. I just want to try slashing some waves without having to carry 30 mph of speed into it

I am assuming it has to do with the deeper chines on the rear of the hull and not so much the tubbies up front. I have read somewhere that adding second more aggressive tubbies to the front would allow to pivot on the tubbie and slide out the rear. Is this true or is it gonna have some ill side effect on something else?

The ski right now is a 701 limited set up and the power is OK to me -- for now. I dont think theres any more bolt on performance to add besides a solas mag pump. How will this affect handling?

Thanks in advance

Stick the second set of tubbies on the front and try that. The 08' hulls seem twitchy to me coming off 90-07 hulls.

A wide front footprint in the surf helps with carving anyhow. I can barely ride a non tubbied ski in the surf. I fall all over the place.

i ended up adding Blowsion Tubby Destroyers to the front and cuting 2" off the back, along with cutting off part of the rear bond line to keep it from catching. On the 08+ superjets the rear of the hull is narrower than the pre 08's. That leaves more overhang of the bondline which acts like a set of rear sponsons.

that helped... then I ran a super short pole - which not only helped to slide by getting more of your weight forward, it helped with my barrel rolls by keeping my in a better, more nuetral position.

I'd be lost without the x
I have an 08 and don't have any trouble sliding it. If you keep the ski flat and turn a bit, it will slide right out. What is your quick steer setup? Is it actually adding throw? The 08+ SJ's have awful stock steering throw so it is a little harder with stock steering but still not that difficult.

Of course, there's plenty of throw in the steering. Thats strange that you have no complaints with it. I weigh only 140lbs, idk if that has anything to do with it, but no matter where I place my weight in the tray the ski will just end up doing a sharp turn instead of sliding. I have to be carrying loads of speed to get a slide I like

Let off on the throttle for half a second before initiating the slide, it will unhook the back of the ski. Also lean forward. 08+ slides just fine after you get enough hours logged riding them.
