Other Smallest footholds?

I know this is a repeat topic, but I cannot find the previous threads and I've been searching and reading off and on all day. I am finally going to put good footholds in my ski and I'm even splurging on a paint job afterwards. The problem is, everyone is advertising their footholds as "plenty of room for 26mm padding, extra long for big feet", etc, and I have small feet. I had over 26 mm of padding in my FX-1 footwells and they weren't large footwells at all.

I want a footwell that allows ankle room, doesn't impinge on the tray excessively, and that I won't have to use 3 layers of padding before I turf. I haven't been on the X much lately and I'm no longer up to date on all the footholds available out there.

Oh, and when I say small feet, mine are small even for a woman, about equal to a size 5 1/2 or 6 for men's sizes. If someone can find some of the old threads on this topic or has suggestions for me, I'd appreciate it. And I don't want to spend a fortune, either, I won't be spending $350.00 for adjustables.

Help me out, fellas! Thanks!

Toby makes some fine foot holds but the smallest ones l know of are the Blowsion ones.Of all the turf jobs l have done with them installed,it is always difficult to pad them for someone with a size 10 or up.lf you pad them with 25mm on the tray (with just a little up top, your feet won't fit.

I am not a fan of Blowsion Footholds. The Wamiltons (Cylone or Rickter) are designed to not have padding on, with padding they would be a tight fit for most. So, with adding a single layer of the regular underpadding (not the 25mm stuff) and turf should make them pretty snug for you.

The hull I just picked up has Trinity Footholds that the PO installed along with padding. They fit my size 8.5 perfectly. Edit...Fit perfectly with barefeet.

I've tried the Blowsion holds some years back and thought they fit kinda weird, mostly loose, not enough cover over the top, but around and beside the ankle too much. I never tried to pad them out for me, this was someone else's ski and may have been more their padding or lack of it or how they set them into the sides of the tray.

I have some that will work just fine and at 65 shipped pretty hard to beat.

I guess I had gotten the impression from one (or more) of your posts that yours were all larger. Do you have some smaller ones or would I have to layer on the padding?

Toby's ORIGINAL (OLD STYLE) would be perfect for you.

I've been leaning that way so far.

I don't think I've ever tried Cyclones. How's the fit around the ankle? NM, I'll find some pics.

I don't think I've ever tried Trinity's either. How much padding to fit your bare 8.5's, old style thin, or the thick stuff?

An extra piece of turf and some contact cement can snug-up any foothold.
Holds made for thick padding are great. But, over time, the padding mashes down and the extra-turf mod is needed.
Placing the extra piece of turf in the instep area will be hard to notice. (if you're concerned with cosmetics).

i did find this thread during my search, but without the info these guys have provided as to what size feet fit how and into which holds, I wasn't too sure I wanted to blindly order. I'll do a bit more focused research and decide in the next few days. Gotta order soon enough for the hubster to install in the 1-2 weeks. Then we get to paint, then I get to turf. :eye roll: [where's my eye roll emoticon?]

It's not cosmetics so much (although I'd like it to look nice for at least a couple weeks, lol) but I would like to use the thicker padding underfoot cuz I'm old and my feet and ankles hurt on my good days. I will likely need to use at least 2 thin layers on the topside both for fit and comfort. I just don't want to have to do thick on top and bottom PLUS multiple layers of thin PLUS turf to get a decent fit. That much padding will mash down in no time. Thick all round or thick under and a couple layers thin on top, I'm all good. The last holds I padded out came installed in my FX-1 and were bizarrely shaped, ankle area swooped INWARD sloppy loose on me, etc. I had to completely reshape the holds, then pad like crazy. We didn't have any thick on hand, so I ended up with 3 layers of thin under, then just started to layer on top till they worked and 4 layers later plus turf they were tolerable (still a bit loose, and nobody else in the group could get into them, lol).

Long story, but I'm just trying to not have to fight massive padding on huge holds. I really do have very small feet.

i really do appreciate all the input, guys, the more info I have the better my chance of a better fit and at least a little less work.
