Surfriding smitty module for total loss

you mean shifty mod? I had one give me problems when it got wet. wouldn't spark. days later it would dry out and work again. got sick of it and cut it out. not one problem since I removed it, but I do have to take off a battery end when i'm done riding so it don't drain battery

I just had one go out after about 50 hours. Start button would start ski with no teether. It also killed my battery. So if you run one make sure to have a quick disconnect on your battery or pull the fuse to brain.

this would be start stop issue rather than solenoid wouldnt it?
Buzzard, guess one relay with multiple contacts makes starter relay contact but not the ign on contact. Mine still clicks when the off button is pressed, but wont engage the starter relay

Negative. Switch tested perfect. I replaced shifty mod and all was well.

I opened up my shifty module, its a 12VDC self latching relay, so it should only hold ignition on, when you hit start button. The idea is great.
I got fed up, when mine crapped out that fast, a day at the lake with 30deg C weather, and a enclosured box with MSD, that require you pulled engine out - just to pull out the module and run hardwired. No issue since.
I used to run wing nuts on my battery so you could change battery with no tools.
Also i run a MotoBatt mbtx9u 9ah battery and a 5ah Li-ion battery. Both battery will last around 30L of fuel, a good day of riding.

I had just assumed it was solid state , not a mechanical relay- now I'm worried. It looks like a latching relay presumably used on a car with a folding top.

My ski has the shifty module and last ride I had issues of the ski clicking when hitting the green button but turning over other times. Now it mainly clicks and doesn't turn over the motor most times. Not sure if its the shifty mod or my starter relay though. What did you guys experience when your shifty mod went out? I have already went around the starter and the switch so figure its the shifty mod or relay at this point
