Sn 650 vs 701 value

Between the group of riders I've brought into the sport here in Colorado we've purchased 3 650 superjets at around 300$ each all running in the last 2 years, some running better than others lol. The 701 SNs fetch a pretty penny, usually around 2k to 3k. The RNs are usually 4K+ skis up here in the hills.

Get anything that has yamaha superjet on it and you'll be miles ahead. Worry about the engine once you've got a season on the water learning the basics.

Engine swaps between 650s and 701s are easy. We can do them at the campsite. Have a 701 were gonna throw in our buddy's ski next weekend.

Getting things back on track, SNs are sick skis and you’ll have a ton of fun with one. I had an aftermarket surf ski but never enjoyed riding it quite as much as my square.

The 650s are kinda turds. Good starting place, but wouldn’t waste money hopping one up with motor mods. You’ll be able to outride it in one season. Just buy a 701 to swap in at that point.

As far as price… yeah they don’t make them anymore so they are going up in value. 3k for a nice unmolested square or 5k for a rn wouldn’t be a terrible deal. Haggle haggle haggle!

Where in Ontario are you? I love buying stuff and haggling and I pretty much live in the ann arbor mi area and in Windsor. I have family in Brantford. Hit me up if you are serous about buying something. Tell me your budget in CAD.

If I were buying, I would get the 650. Then upgrade to a JM780 later on.
but in my experience, its better getting a ski with a factory pipe first and foremost. 650 or 701.

Thank you for this! I'm just north of Toronto.
It's unfortunate the season is coming to an end obviously, but I might end up reaching out to you down the road and take you up on this! :)
