Freestyle SN SJ mods

I want to get more into freestyle but I would need some tips for mods to make on my SN SJ. Right now it has a 6m6 motor in it that i am going to swap out for a bored out 701. The hull has 2 foot straps on it and that is the only hull mod that i have right now. I want to get the engine setup first, then i will think about purchasing a new hull with whatever money that i can get together. What engine mods should be made to be able to do more types of flatwater tricks!

Is bored out.. Wouldn't that add some power to it? Instead of getting it ported? I am getting a pipe for it but I was told that the aftermarket heads bring up the chance of blowing the motor?

Keep your eyes open for a 701. Preferably one with 62t cases and 61x cylinders. Even a 61x cased motor with 61x cyl would be great.

Then a pipe. factory B limited chamber pipes work pretty good. Or try and find an older factory pipe type 4, or newer type 9 dry pipe. There's other dry pipes that will work good too, but those two come to mind first. They are almost the same pipe other than newer refinements in the type 9. We put a type 4 on my sons 650 SN and it really woke it up. Whole new ski after that. Got it used for $350

After that there's a lot of stuff you can do. Have it ported and put on an ADA girdled head, or have someone build you a freestyle motor. Jetmaniac / Blue motors are about the best bang for the buck you will find and they friggin rip! Once you get this far, you can talk to your engine builder as to how to match up your whole ski. Pump, ignition, motor blablabla.

Porting will add the most power.
Boring is good also. Both would be ideal.
Before buying a new hull I would put handholds in your hood if doing flatwater, plus bilge pump/scupper. That will make it more fun while saving for an aftermarket hull (you can do a lot with stock hulls). I prefer footholds to straps, you may consider putting in footholds.
If you have the stock aluminum impeller then replacing that is a MUST.

I don't think that i am going to port it.. its too expensive for me. I am looking into a pipe and head, are the Pro Tec pipes and heads good or forget about them and get a bpipe and a ADA head? We are buying a B1 down in Dayton Ohio that has a limited b pipe.. would that pipe work in my SN?

Nope...at least not noticeable. Your money is spent better elsewhere.

IMO...if your moving from your stock 650 SN to a 701, all you need is a pipe, footholds, intake grate and good ss impeller. I might be wrong but arn't uou pretty young still? much more than this might be a handful for you.

I have an intake grate and a ss impeller, planning on getting the pipe and maybe put a bigger carb on there.. we have a few bigger carbs so we might try and put one on because we already have it. and yea i am 15 years old right now. going to be racing my dads SXR this summer in the races that are organized in ontario!

Ok, thought you were a little younger than that for some reason...you'll be fine with the power.

Make sure you have the proper pitched ss impeller...if it is off the 650 sn than it probably won't work so well with the added power of the 701 with mods. I like the solas concord 13/16 cutback -3mm, not the newest and greatest thign out but they work well and can be had for relatively cheap because of the new hooker impellers.

Your dad has been around this stuff for awhile and knows what he is doing, he'll set you up right.

My dad just told me who you were.. i remember when we bought that huge partslot off of you!
anyways I am getting a full 61x motor that comes with everything except a pipe. The motor is out of a kraze and has 46mm carb with a wcc head. It was just bored by art at jetworks and is a 736cc engine. Picking it up this weekend along with another 701 motor, all stock and a blaster. Can't wait to hear it run :Banane09:

oh yea he raced his in the vintage ,, and my sxr in the beginer this year ,, that is him in my avtar ,, he mentioned earlier today he was messaging you and i told him yea daniel you met him .. remember way back when you sold me off half of the kawasaki side of that parts lot and skis you bought ,,, you know that deal basically funded my purchase of my sxr so i guess in a way you are sponsoring Daniel to race this year ! I sold off all three of those vintage kawasakis and all of those parts .. ( remember that dual exhaust vintage 550 exhaust that was pretty neat but really looked like a nightmare to actualy tune to a ski .. ) we recently bought back that vintage full pro mod 440 ski .. it ran great but got too finiky so we sold off that engine and now have the hull in our basement dropping in that engine YOU also sold me from that 650sx with thekawi13.jpg45826_10150246921290538_502975537_14067580_5520085_n.jpg westcoast head .. it is stilll running strong .. been into a few skis now ! .. here is a pic of that pro mod engine just for fun .. it is now gone but that hull is set up for power so a perfect set up for teh conversion ski ..64654_10150282464990151_537065150_15454693_4004879_n.jpg45598_10150251525555151_537065150_14754231_1944702_n.jpg312810_2028886805311_1338307333_31641487_1291114079_n.jpgsince we are taking about freestyle jetskiin .. did you notice what i bought ,, I stumbled upon scott watkins freestyle ski on one of my parst ski purchases .. I didnt know what I had .. Scott from Caledonia bought it off me .. not really telling me what i had .. and well within two days he flipped it and re-sold it to Ty .. so look at that .. the ski in my garage to now being restored .. and in his collection and "museum" actualy not really happy about how it all went down .. but very happy with where it is .. I might have inadvertanly parted it out not knowing what it was but know it is living a new life and saved but then again .. it may have been back in the water some kid riding it never aware of the hiddn history LOL .. anyways now we are talking sj b pipes and 701s with footholds but look at what watkins could do with a modded 440 no footholds or any power near what you or daniel have in a SJ ! that guy was / is amazing .. look at him with ty leaning over the ski he won with back in the day the same ski that sat in my garage for a short while last summer :)
