the coils rarely go bad but the wires themselves are a known problem. The MSD caps are threaded on so it is recomended that you remove them, cut the wires back a bit and reattach them. Sometimes you get lucky and they break right where the cap screws on, other times not so lucky.

Yes, I do believe that my coil has gone bad. I have power to it in the electrical box, but no power coming out of it. I checked on blowsion to show a great pictures http://www.blowsion.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=01-05-012

Attached are mine. Do these coils go bad and can this be the root of my problem?

read up one post from your current question for the answer to that question, already posted. However, having said that, it looks like your coil has already been messed with by the MSD plug caps and red glue around where the wires attach to the coils.

I'd try cutting the wires back some first, then go from there.

This is what I have narrowed it down to. Sure I can try pulling back and seeing if that works. I have definitely, in my rookie opinion, have narrowed it down to that. Mind you I did get a lot of water in hull a few weeks ago. I got water in electrical box and had to clean. That is why I am thinking this. Yesterday, as I was flushing ski, the ski just died and never fired back up.

Well sure I can. I Want to learn and figure out for myself. Very easy just to give to him and pay.

you can go back and forth listening and doing every post you read, but your problem is beyond your ignition coil. From all of my experience, an ignition coil just doesn't suddently go bad... but the wires can break inside and give an intermittent spark (but you will see a spark).

my guess is the CDI...but what do I know!! It could be your stator! or???

professional help isn't cheap, but it will get you back on the water

Cat and mouse is good, cause us 'mice' learn from others sharing on the forum.

If I took everything I own to the dealer or the 'pros' every time at the first sign of a problem I'd be in the poorhouse.

good advice and that is why we have these forums, check every connection in the ebox spray wd 40 around in there it will displace the water if you have a shop manual and ohm meter check the stator readings, i doubt it is the coil , place a ground wire from negative battery to any bolt on flywheel cover it might be a bad ground

Knowing there was water in the Ebox I would def take the time to go through all of the connections in the Ebox, clean them and use Dielectric grease on all of the connections. After that I would take a look inside the stator cover. If water got in the ebox 10 to 1 someone had it open at some point and either did not use a new ebox gasket or cranked down on the screws so tight that it distorted the plastic cover allowing water intrusion. It is also very possible they had the stator cover off too and who knows if thats 100% sealed. Even if the problem does not lie behind the stator cover, and there is water in there it will eventually come back to haunt you again. Cant hurt to make sure its all dry before it cost you a ton in the long run!!! My .02......

If you don't know what it is for sure...then dont throw money at it. I used to do that when I was 16 with my truck. If you think that is what it is causing the problem. Then go ahead and buy your part.

Remember, this is the internet...we all could be fat slobs with our pee pee's hanging out typing on our keyboards and know nothing about ski's.

Hagan you trying to tell us something here :Banane09:

Let me backtrack slightly on my previous words - it never hurts to at least take a look and maybe find an obvious problem before taking it to the pros. I agree that you don't throw parts at something you can't diagnose easily.

Everyone is absolutely correct in their opinions. IT could be anything. I already cleaned Ebox and it was running great for a few weeks after taking on water. Today, I Checked the flywheel and there is no water in it. Took apart start/stop switch and still nothing. All I know from checking everything is that I have no power to start it. My MSD caps on top of plugs do not have any power. I checked my friends ski and he has power in them. When my spark plugs are in the caps and I lay them on engine to see if I get a spark, I do not. My friend does. So I traced it back to the Ebox. The wires to the coil have power in the Ebox. So I have to assume that between the coil and the caps on top of plugs something is wrong. If I am mistaken than of course I will take it in.

if i grabbed a beer every time i was right, your refrigerator would have broken hinges.

Only reason i suggest that is because he has fixed all your previous problems with the ski in the past and would be able to narrow it down extremely fast over the phone with you. If you need a cdi or a coil let me know i can meet you and give you a good deal.
